Guidelines for Grant Applicants

  1. We expect applicants to be in a process of inner change and to be changing the focus of their work towards working with others in need.
  2. We hope that grants will offer a space for applicants to make real the next stage in the fulfillment of their life’s purpose.
  3. Applications are invited both from individuals at the beginning of their career and those contemplating a radical re-orientation of their life’s work or the deepening of an existing vision. Grants will not be given to fund existing work.
  4.  The Trustees will expect clarity about what the applicant intends to do, what steps will be necessary to achieve it, and what they expect to be achieved during the period of the grant.
  5. Applicants will need to demonstrate commitment to their purpose, and that they are in need of financial support to make it feasible.
  6. Trustees will consider funding specific living costs such as food and rent, and other costs relating to training programmes, voluntary work or an internship and academic course costs specific to the intended work. We will not fund holidays, or unspecified “thinking time”. We do not offer grant money to pay off loans or other debts.
  7. Trustees expect to meet twice a year, but if necessary will consider applications between meetings.
  8. No re-applications for further funding will be considered within five years of an initial grant.
  9. Applications made on behalf of others will not be accepted.

After six months, we will invite recipients of grants to tell us what progress has been made towards their original goal and to give a realistic assessment of what did and didn’t work.

It may be possible to put recipients of grants in touch with each other.
