Beneficiaries

Here are two examples of people who have benefited from an Open Wing grant.
We welcome others, but also understand that not everyone will want to put their details on this site.

One recipient applied for a grant to start a new community interest company
Theatre Troupe, working with young people with mental health problems
as a result of trauma.  Over several months, the grant paid for daily living costs
whilst the recipient founded, constituted and fundraised the new organisation,
and ran a pilot project with young people in Southwark, London.
The start-up boost the OWT grant provided, has meant that the organisation
is funded to run for two further years, with a part time salary providing stability
going forward.

‘The leap of faith you took in my vision, supporting my living costs, has enabled time and space to pursue the setting up and running of Theatre Troupe.  In our end of term evaluation, young people and parents said it had made a difference to their lives, helping them managing difficult feelings and achieve a level of self-esteem that means they can believe in themselves.  Without your help, we wouldn’t have been able to achieve this.  So thank you! ”

“In 2019 you gave me a grant that enabled me to continue my studies to become a counsellor for young people. I have now qualified and have set up my own practice where I offer low cost counselling to young people aged twelve to twenty five. I wanted to get back in touch to say thank you, thank you for supporting me, believing in my goals and enabling me to fulfil my dreams. I’m truly inspired by you and what you do for people, people like me that just want to be in this world to help people. Thank you will all of my heart you changed my life so that I can work with young people and support them to change their lives 🖤”
